I have spent more than 30 years working in volunteering. That experience has given me a practical understanding of the opportunities, challenges and complexities involved in developing and managing volunteer programmes.
An independent perspective
Through VA Consultancy, I work with charities and other organisations to review current practice, develop volunteering strategies, strengthen policies and processes, and build the confidence of staff and volunteer managers.

I recognise that recommendations must be realistic and work within the organisation. My role is to listen, understand the context and help develop practical ways forward.

I first established VA Consultancy in 2005 and returned to the business in 2023. This gave me the opportunity to draw on my experience across the voluntary sector and support a wider range of organisations to make volunteering work well for volunteers, staff and the causes they serve.
